I still remember the day miss oejane pulled out her bright yellow Spongebob key chain. It has a car key attached to it. A car key. The first of my friends to drive! Many have followed. One even had the perseverance to fail 4 times *salute!*
I remember that day because it was the beginning of a very VERY long wait to my own driver's license. Being 1 year younger than my bunch of friends, I face an extended sentence. Having to wait till mid-October simply adds to the ke-kns-an! Imagine this! One by one they started zipping round Taiping, coming and going as they wish, not tied down by waiting Mummies and AhKongs. And suiying, too young to drive, not allowed to ride a bike, left all alone at the mercy of whoever is fetching her home because her house is too far from everyone else's for a lift...
It doesn't help either that my friends keep highlighting the fact that every single one of them would be P (for professional) even before I take undang. And that even Beh would be driving confidently by the time I register. And that even shorty Yan can drive (and actually see past the wheel). And that the world might end before I can take to the roads. And that self-transport is very convenient. Jane, you are guiltiest. Lucky for you, I love you too much to strangle you.
Torture. I feel like a bird would feel if its wings were clipped. Time is the only thing standing between me and independence! Being able to go anywhere I want to by myself. I'm mature enough to drive already. I know the rules and I know how a car works. I know what precautionary measures to take and I know what to do in an emergency. I am unable to panic under high pressure. I know how to use the mirrors. I know how to drive safe. I just need that little thing called a license. Yes, based on purely selfish reasons, I think licenses should be given based on one's maturity, not age alone.
But NO... I have to wait till October to be legal and till November to take my practicals. That is like a wait of 21 months from the moment I started longing to drive. Tell me that is a short wait and I will tie you to the nose of a Boeing 747. Speaking of airplanes - Jane, it is possible to get a private pilot license in 3 months if you put in 5 hours a week. Minimum age is 17.
That piece of information has just upped my frustration. Can you imagine? Our buddy miss oejane can FLY even before i can begin to DRIVE. Garrh.
The day I drive will be a perfect perfect day.
The day I drive past JANE would be absolutely heaven.
The day I drive seems an eternity away...

this is by far the best blog i've ever came across. it made me laugh and smile n grinnnin with great pleasure. hahahhaaaa. yes yes. haih. and also when you get your license, you are already free, u know, meaning you are not in taiping no more. the best time to get a license is when you live with adults. now that you wont be anymore, the thrill and joy of getting the license would be less. and also, my P stands for 'professional', beh's stands for 'Pass,Please' .hahaha. every individual P differs, you gotta get that right. yan is for, kononya, 'petite' lo. n jenn P for 'picture perfect'. ha. what the hell. yours WILL stand for? what you think? but i will look forward to a day that u n i will race, illegally. but i am sure that day wont come too soon. maybe i will have to race with you in air before i get to on land huh?? but hey, patience.
